Case Notes

A case note looks at one judgment: what happened, what the court decided and why, and what it means in practice.

What we look for

  • One judgment, with the full citation and court.
  • The facts, the legal issue and the court’s reasoning, in that order.
  • Your own view on the significance of the decision, clearly marked as your view.
  • Short and focused: usually 600 to 1,500 words.
