How to use this table. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 came into force on 1 July 2024. The old Acts generally still apply to offences committed and proceedings begun before that date, subject to the repeal and savings provisions. A new number does not always mean identical wording, and some old numbers now mean something else (for example, Section 482 of the CrPC and Section 482 of the BNSS). This is a student aid with selected sections only. Always check the current text on India Code before citing. Last updated: October 2026.
